Other Services for Researchers

The Office of Research Initiatives is always on the hunt to identify new resources to help researchers! Here are a few of our other projects we're working on.

Duke has acquired licenses for access to the anti-plagiarism software, iThenticate, for faculty and certain staff/trainees. Access to the software varies by school, so if you have questions about gaining access, please contact researchinitiatives@duke.edu.

Our Research Navigators service allows us to understand the needs of Duke researchers on a system-wide scale. In response to an unmet need identified by our team we have acquired a set of encrypted digital voice recorders which are currently available at no cost.

Summer Writing Group for Researchers

Join us for the Inaugural Summer Writing Group for Researchers at Duke! This program is being done in partnership with Duke Faculty Write (an initiative of the Thompson Writing Program), the Office of Campus Research Development, and the Office for Faculty Advancement.

The program brings together research faculty from across Duke and assembles them into self-directed writing groups.  All research faculty are welcome to take part, regardless of discipline and regardless of writing project. Seats are limited (50) and registration is required.

What is involved in the program?

  • Complete the intake form (as part of registration below) to tell us about your writing project(s) and writing group preferences.
  • Attend a 2-hour orientation to the program, that includes information about how the writing groups will function, and an opportunity to meet with the faculty members that were assigned into groups based on their preferences. Orientation will be held, over a free lunch, on May 16th from 11:00 - 1:00 in Perkins 217.
  • Work with your assigned group to meet 5+ times during the summer. Schedules and frequency are determined by the writing groups themselves.  During these meetings, the group leader will share resources that may help you with your writing. Our office can help with scheduling space and paying for some refreshments.
  • Complete pre- and post- program evaluations

To get started, complete the registration and intake form by April 30th so that we can formulate the writing groups.
